Dr. Utpal Bora
About
Dr. Utpal Bora is a Professor at the Department of Chemical Sciences, Tezpur University, Assam, India. After his Ph.D. (CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, 2005) under the supervision of Dr. Ramesh C. Boruah, and a JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (Gifu Pharmaceutical University, Gifu, Japan, 2007) with Prof. Hironao Sajiki, he joined Syngene International Ltd, (Biocon), Bangalore (2008) as Associate Scientific Manager. He then moved to the Department of Chemistry, Dibrugarh University, Assam as Assistant Professor (2008-2013). At Tezpur University, he is working on the development of various routes of cross-coupling, oxidation and C-H activation reactions, for the synthesis and fictionalization of potentially bioactive heterocyclic molecule of pharmaceutical importance. He has been awarded with the JSPS-Postdoctoral Research Fellowship by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (2005-2007), INSA Visiting Fellowship (2012), JSPS Bridge Fellowship by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (2013), and DBT Overseas Associateship by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India (2017).
